I’m Jacs.

Jacs Guderley is an author, illustrator and mental health advocate and speaker.
She wants you to know that getting depressed is normal, and you’re great just as you are.
Jacs’ first book, ‘The Bullshit*t Free Guide to Overcoming Low Mood and Depression’ is an illustrated self-help guide, due for international publication in 2025 with Jessica Kingsley Publishers (Hachette UK). It combines psychology with Jacs’ own experiences to help readers navigate depression and rediscover the confidence that depression so often takes away. Find out more.
In 2024, Jacs launched and self-published a womxn’s mental health zine, ‘you’re not a piece of shit’. It shares and explores the lives, stories and identities of women and gender non-binary people’s mental health experiences through creative expression.
Other things Jacs has done include:
– Co-founded Stemettes, a social enterprise inspiring girls and young women into Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths (STEM) careers.
– Founded Salomé, a literary magazine for emerging female writers, to address the gender imbalance in publishing.
– Appeared in the news and media, campaigning for gender equality, including a campaign to prevent Feminism being removed from the A Level Politics syllabus
– Formed part of the first cohort of political candidates that stood for the Women’s Equality Party.
– Ran an event series, MNTL HLTH, exploring the lived experiences of those who have struggled with their mental health in various forms.
By day, Jacs works in Tech and talks extensively on how we can look after our mental health in the Tech sector. In 2022, she co-founded the Product Mind Community to support the mental wellbeing of fellow Product Managers.
A thought leader in the mental health space, she has spoken at national and international conferences and talks, and has been commissioned to write a number of thought pieces on the topic.
